The Monster Ultra High-Speed 8K Cobalt HDMI Cable boasts some impressive specs, including some HDMI 2.1 supported features, but is it really all it’s cracked up to be? Find out if the Monster HDMI cable is worth the $50 price tag!įor transparency, I was sent the 12ft Monster HDMI cable free of charge for review, however, as always, I’m honest with how I feel about a product. Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. The job of a good cable is how reliable and how much it doesn't affect your natural sound - the more invisible it is the better it's doing it's job. If I were one to plug straight into an amp the added expense would probably not be warranted. ![]() Of course, it's important to remind folks that I run a space station of a pedalboard - so quality patch cables are a must or you will get an accumulation of tolerances that add up to big signal loss if you use poor quality cable. There was a very big, audible difference when I switched - the signal was much more powerful and, for lack of a better term - "3-D." It's funny, but since I've started using the EA stuff I've actually gotten very little use out of my compressor - the "punch" that I would normally get from a pedal was actually there naturally in using the cables - only with a more natural sounding sparkle that most compressors don't have. The one brand of cables that I have found that actually live up to the hype and are not merely "snake oil" are the Evidence Audio - I have the EA Melody as my primary cable from my guitar and 85% of my pedalboard is wired up the EA Monorails. I have also used the Planet Waves circuit breaker cable in the past and it was a very clear sounding cable as well - you just have to keep an eye that the little circuit breaker botton doesn't get turned off when you don't want it to. Then again some people may want the high end shave off that cheap cables give - apparently SRV insisted that his amp tech use only cheap grey molded "Radio Shack" cable - he didn't like Monster cable because it let in too much of the highs. It had a surprising amount of high end cut - which then again may be why someone would want to buy a "jazz" cable. Monster cables are indeed a mixed bag - in shootouts some of them actually did rather poorly - the Jazz if I remember correctly. ![]() The Dimarzio - especially the braided ones - got very high marks in cable shootouts for both durability and sound - I used them for a number of years with good results.
